Redefining the new “normal” is a challenging journey when a couple has been through extraordinary emotional and psychological pain, intimacy issues, intimacy/sexual anorexia and relational trauma. Deconstructing the relationship, letting go of dysfunctional patterns, maintaining personal and relational strengths, as well as rekindling the love that brought the couple together in the first place, takes empathy, patience and time.
Therapeutic assistance is provided to couples so they can identify chronic unhealthy relational patterns, uncover the family of origin’s impact on the present relationship, and build upon each person’s strengths to heal the relationship.
We view the whole family as a system with unique moving interrelated parts that can become stuck. We offer a safe, nonjudgmental environment to listen and work closely with families by providing interventions so that the families can begin the process of healing and working together.
An area of specialty for Odonata Wellness Center, LLC, is working with parents and families impacted by children’s mental health and/or medical issues. Child and Adolescent Therapy
Child and adolescent therapy often looks different from adult therapy because it is play-based. Children process their feelings through play and that is why Filial Therapy (play therapy) was designed. For children, art therapy is a wonderful adjunct to play therapy because art in and of itself is a form of play. Adolescent therapy can also look like play therapy depending upon the developmental and mental health considerations for individual clients.
Feeling unconditional support, safety, and connection with other individuals struggling with similar issues can breathe life back into a person who has been alone feeling emotional or psychological pain for months, years, or decades.
In a group setting, one can begin the process towards wholeness by shedding the shame, fear, anxiety, and other symptoms inherent to being partners, parents, or caregivers of loved ones with chronic mental health issues and sexual compulsive behaviors. Please note the side bar for types of groups we offer.
Certified Life Coaching
Life Coaching and Sexual Addiction Recovery Life Coaching are services provided by coaches on our trauma-based wellness team. The benefit to a client is that it expands one’s support team. A coach avails themselves to more frequent contact throughout the week, whereas contact with a therapist is limited to scheduled weekly sessions and critical emergency situations. Coaching can stand alone or be utilized alongside other aspects of one’s therapeutic journey.
